I went to Tucacas, Venezuela, for the first (and only) time 11 or 12 years ago. We drove from Barinas to Falcon, a trip of around 414.5 Km or 257.5 Miles.
It would be great if I had photos, but I don’t, or at least I can’t find them. Those were the days when I would save pictures on PenDrives (and then lose them).
I remember that trip because it was the first time I traveled with my younger (and favorite) brother without our parents.
We spent the time on the road listening to music, singing very poorly (in my case at least), eating junk food, and laughing about the silliest jokes. I laughed so much that I cried.
Once we arrived in Tucacas, we traveled by sea to different small islands and spent the day there. We ate delicious seafood, enjoyed our time, and had the bad luck of witnessing a horrible family fight (of another family that we didn’t know) where they were extremely drunk, punching each other badly, others were crying, and we stood there… paralyzed, without being able to move due to the level of violence they were exhibiting.
This might sound horrible, but that fight made me appreciate my family and friends more than ever, as I highly doubt that something like that would happen to us.
The trip to return to Barinas was fun as well. Another of our brothers went to Coro, a city close to Tucacas, and then we all returned to Barinas. We got lost on the way back, but luckily, we were able to get back on the right road, and the trip finished with no issues on our end.
It was a beautiful trip, and I have fond memories of those days and the great people who traveled with my brother and me.
