I fled Venezuela in 2019 and was part of one of my home country’s migration waves. When I left, the border between Venezuela and Colombia was partially closed. Venezuelan migratory authorities (SAIME) wouldn’t seal your passport, but Colombians would.
So far, the only seals on my passport are from Colombian authorities, as my passport is expired, and Venezuela doesn’t recognize it as Valid (but Colombia does). This year, it is the third time I’m back in Venezuela. That’s for a short period, as I will return in January.
Every time I leave, I get depressed. It’s funny, as things here are difficult. Food is expensive, salaries are minimal, and the city feels empty, yet my family is here, which makes it up. Every time I leave, I end up sad and nostalgic. What makes you feel that way? Let me know.
