I have lived in Bogota for the past couple of years after living all my life in Venezuela. When I moved in, I first lived with my older brother in a beautiful house where we had rooms rented to a nice but alcoholic fella.
Even if I was living with my brother, I felt lonely. My then-boyfriend was living in Venezuela, my friends were scattered worldwide, and I had only two friends in Bogota that I could barely see because we were all so busy. However, all changed thanks to a photo I published.
I shared on Instagram a photo of Bogota, and a friend I thought was living in another city reached out. She told me that we could go out sometime. We saw each other a couple of times; I visited her and her family, and we spent a Christmas together, and it was all good. That was until it wasn’t.
My relationship of five years ended, and I was not doing well. I didn’t tell her, and I don’t know why. I isolated myself, but, once again, she reached out, and I shared what had happened. She told me that we could go to a nearby town, that there was a place called “La cabaña Alpina” (here is their website), and that it would be good to take my mind off everything that was happening.

So, we went to Sopó and had a blast. Then, she and her fiancee suggested to go to Guatavita. We went there and enjoyed the amazing views. I remember that tears were dropping from my eyes when we were returning to Bogota because I felt so loved and grateful for her and her friendship. She asked me if I was okay, and I lied and said everything was fine. You see, I had mixed feelings. I was thrilled to share time with them, but I also felt melancholy (and a lot).

Up to this day, I feel overwhelmed with warm feelings when I remember that trip. I love them both so much, and I hope our friendship takes us to more beautiful places!
