We all have our hobbies and things we do for fun, and I am no exception. Some of the things I do for fun are the following:
- Play videogames. I love playing Stardew Valley in my free time. I also play Pokemon Go and Sleep, and I’m trying (not too hard) to complete TLOZ Skyward World (I’m currently stuck).
- Bike around the city. Bogota has a system of shared bikes for rent, and I’m using it to go to my appointments when they are not so far away, and also on Sundays when a couple of avenues and streets are closed for people who want to walk, bike, or skate.
- Go to new restaurants. I like going to different restaurants with my boyfriend and friends. Bogota also has great and diverse options of where to eat, so many that I joke saying that a lifetime isn’t enough to go to every restaurant.
- Lettering and Journaling. Now that I write it, I realize how boring it might sound. Hehe. Anyway, sometimes it is surprising to see how time flies when I focus on those hobbies.
- Fall into the rabbit hole of social media. It sucks that this is the thing where I spend most of the time. I can spend a lot of time on Facebook, Twitter (I mean, X), Instagram, Youtube, and even sites such as Cheezburger or Bored Panda, mindlessly watching videos and reels, reading clickbait, and just convincing myself that I’m resting.
The fifth thing on my list is partially under control because I use the Digital Wellbeing app on my cellphone. That app helps you to limit the time a given app can be used for a day. It helps, but sometimes I deactivate it with a reason (an excuse), and then I waste my time for several days until I activate the Digital Wellbeing thing again.
Do you have any advice on staying out of the rabbit hole and doing other fun activities instead? I appreciate any recommendations you can share.
