I had Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) when I was a kid. It was a traumatic experience for me and my family, and I have a sequel where I cannot lift my right foot (Drop foot). Although I know it is natural that people feel curious or wonder why I walk the way I do, I still hate being asked what happened. Now that I think about it, maybe I shouldn’t be upset, as it is better that people ask me what happened with genuine concern and curiosity than talk behind my back.

I guess I hate it because it reminds me of the times I was bullied due to my problem. I should talk to my therapist about it because I thought I was completely over it until I had to write about this prompt!
If you want to know more about Guillain-Barré Syndrome and help people suffering from this disease, consider participating in one of the many activities the GBS CIDP Foundation International organizes! Also, let me know in the comments if you donated. Trust me that even $5 means a lot and support a great foundation 🙂
