Before starting the story, I want to ask you, what can you do besides sharing the GoFundme of your friend? Well, and donating, keeping in touch, praying, offering help… I know there are ways to help, but I appreciate any ideas you want to share.
Now, to the story. A couple of years ago I went through a heart shatering breakup. I cried every day for one month, then I cried a couple of times per week for weeks, and so on until I finally stopped crying. The first day was the most difficult. I was so sad that I couldn’t even speak.
Somehow, I still managed to send a WhatsApp message to Karen. She told me she was sorry and asked me if I wanted to talk, but I told her that I was lost for words. Then, she asked me if I wanted to play Animal Crossing New Horizons to distract myself. We both loved that game and had previously played it together:
I thought that was a great idea, and I loved how she came up with a creative way to support me in the middle of my breakdown. Karen is a wonderful, caring, and loving person (lovely too), and this was just one of the little things she does for others. That night, she stayed with me playing until… 2am? I’m not even sure. We catched bunch of fishes, captured bugs, and spent time exploring the island.
I always remember that day, and I feel so thankful of having such an amazing friend. She has the biggest smile, and she keeps it, even when she is receiving Chemoterapy for Lymphoma and will also have a Bone Marrow transplant. I want to help her keep that smile until we are old and wrinkled, but I’m unsure of what to do.
I have donated (and planning to keep on doing so), shared her GoFundMe, sent her funny posts, let her know that I will help her with everything I can, and I feel that… is not enough. I am upset because I cannot support her more or in a better way, and I don’t know what to do. As I shared in the beginning… any ideas you might have, will be appreciated.
Thanks for reading, and I hope your day is filled with blessings.
