Yes, I play in my daily life 🙂
I am a professional and kind accountability partner, and a biologist who wears glasses… When people meet me, they think that I’m pretty serious, geeky, and shy. They’re right about the geek part and partially right about the shy part.
However, I’m pretty silly 🙂 I love playing around, doing little jokes, tickling “tickable” people (aka, people I know well and trust and know won’t get upset by the tickling), sharing silly jokes, dancing, singing (sometimes silly) songs, playing with any cats and dogs I find on my way, and playing with kids (kids in my family or of my friends).
My partner is the same. That’s one of the reasons we get along so well. He is terrible with kids, tho, and that’s because he has no patience (this is because he doesn’t come from a big family like I do. Nothing to do there).
For me, play is a hugely important part of our lives. Maybe that’s something I think, thanks to my love for video games.
In my case, something that indicates playtime is having free time. Work-life balance is a deal breaker for me, and that’s why I quit my 9-5 and found peace in the way. When I have many things to do, and my stress is through the roof, I don’t feel like playing. I can’t get myself to relax. That’s no good.
I am very careful now with how I use my time, and I’m always trying to prevent burnout. I also schedule downtime. I highly recommend you do the same 🙂 Add more play in your life and schedule time to have fun.
